Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Michael Welner appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to discuss the horrific Las Vegas shooting and the mental state of the shooter.
In a segment first flagged by ThinkProgress, Welner said that gun enthusiasts are “dehumanized” and “demonized,” particularly in “certain media.”
Brian Kilmeade brought up comments yesterday by CNN’s Jeff Zeleny noting how the country music fans at the concert were likely Trump supporters. And then Welner said this:
“I think that CNN’s gonna have to answer for how they demonize gun enthusiasts and how CNN actually contributes to mass shootings. And I believe that they do. But that’s a side issue.”
Later on in the program, however, Kilmeade made a point of addressing those comments and saying “That’s his point of view, that is not our point of view.”
